I'm very pleased you went to the AGM,TP. I hummed and arred about going. It is a question of making the time available versus the probability of gaining new information since the last meeting. Your summary is excellent; I can hear B talking. PAX formalising definite options in Puga and K-G is great news. It also means of course that B now has to work rapidly on a number of fronts in 'strange' places. He really needs some additional executive staff.
Such temperature gradients are grand, so much so that one wonders whether they are radiogenic in origin. The Puga district looks to have very high heat flows. On a slide from the EGM the indication was in excess of 180mW/m^2. Geographically this attaches to a very large extended area into Tibet and China, and with heat flows increasing further to the East. It is in fact the remanent energy of collision between the tectonic plates of India and Asia. It would be very interesting to see some rough calculations on whether this could still be an ongoing source of energy generation (if the plates are still moving). As the heat is generated at the interface between the plates, can the location of such boundaries be inferred?
The presentation info gives 125 C at depths of less than 300m. What is the surface temperature at this place? If it could average at zero (depends on altitude) then the projected gradient is 410 C/km. In the case of HDR with a classical radiogenic granite base the natural fractures are generally of low inclination so that fluid can be conveniently coaxed to flow between two vertical wells. What is the nature and permeability of the tectonic structure of the Himalayan Geothermal Province?
On a separate issue there may the question of which entities in India have the legal rights to authorize exploration and drilling, and the (lack of) speed at which they give this. If GPP have been through this hurdle then well and good. I raised this with two leading lights of GDY last night (Monday) and they expressed high scepticism. Of course, GDY has an expressed non interest in overseas exploration. Dealing with governments of less developed countries can be a tedium and a therefore a risk.
Apparently the highest rock temperatures ever drilled have been at over 500 C by the Japanese. (Temperatures, not gradients.) This makes it appear that GDY 'have seen nothing yet.'
TP, you say there is an Indian government incentive in place of $100/MW. If that is power installed capacity then that is tiny; if it is /MWh energy generated then it is huge.
How many ordinary shareholders attended? I sympathise with you about people wasting valuable opportunity with silly questions.
