The Chinese domestic stock markets are pretty insulated from the rest of the world, and I mean that literally. Foreigners are not allowed to invest in it. Chinese with spare cash can either bank it or invest it in their own markets, but not overseas. As such, the emerging middle class in China has flooded the domestic stock market with money, causing it to quadruple in a short space of time. Overseas shocks don't affect it, but small moves in domestic interest rates can send it reeling 10% or more.
