The remark in the article about it being easier to bring products to market for older people than for young probably represents the cause of the problem for the Aussie mob who had a temporary hiccup with an apparently effective drug caused by some issue with the the results for the young 'uns - since sorted.
An application of the same sort of overarching health outcome logic is why a relatively modest improvement for people suffering a potentially fatal disease like ovarian cancer is enough to see a product like Cvac commercialised.
