I have been doing some research into REE chlorides. I missed an important point. Sulfuric acid is the preferred solvent for separating out LREEs. HCL works much better at separating the heavies and is preferred for that. Saying one strong acids is worse than another is not very productive.
- The answer to your original question is yes the REE chloride process could be moved to KAL. The following things should be considered.
- The new process at KAL would problem need review and permitting.
- Unless AU environmental laws are much more relaxed (which I doubt) The same problems will occur in AU.
- This would be a major change and any major change in a project takes time and money so schedules very likely would slip. and costs go up.
JMO Any change at this point should be avoided unless absolutely necessary.
Thanks for helping me to dig into the HREE process I enjoyed it. I was wrong originally on many of my arguments.
