LYC wouldn't want to mirror the scenario you mention MP has done imo, there is technology in development atm that can potentially be bolted on to existing plants that will reduce water usage, sulfuric acid and electricity without having to go to such lengths.
Furthermore, a high % mixed chloride MP concentrate product will also use less water and require acid use once it hits the SX circuit for further separation.
Less capex, less waste, less water and less acid will greatly improve LYC OPEX.
