I agree legalize drugs and put the money or at least a portion of it spent on trying to police it (unsuccessfully I might add) into more education campaigns (though I doubt it will have much affect) and into help to pick up those that want to get off them.
The big difference between the legalization of guns and drugs is that you can choose to kill yourself by taking drugs but by making it illegal others are affected by crimes done by those wanting to get money for drugs and those pushing the drugs. Whereas guns - frankly the average person does NOT need one even for protection. Reality is guns have the ability to escalate crimes to worse crimes.
