I watch documentaries most of my TV time, and saw one on Greenland. Apparently, and I can't remember the particular group of people (pretty sure Nords/Vikings), the top brass promoted it as such (green), with expansionary visions, as opposed to painting the real picture. The first settlements were disasters.
