While she highlighted work done by the group, she said not enough had been done to criticise Iran, a "country with an abysmal human rights record", and Venezuela, which is in political turmoil and where dozens of protesters have been killed in recent months.

I'm interested in the ramifications of this with an organisation that politically I personally don't like. What do others think? My own personal view is that the UN has been hijacked and the inspirational reasoning of 'its being' is now irrelevant with many decisions seemingly motivated by all the wrong reasons. Apolitical will went out of the window almost immediately.

The US is NOT withdrawing from the U.N., it is considering withdrawing from the UN Human Rights Council.

In my views, the UN Human Rights Council is a toothless tiger, it can pass as many resolutions as it likes but it has no physical authority to enforce the resolutions.
