Hedgies having a punt certainly helped metal prices escalate to unsustainable levels.
I'm not sure where the truth behind the supply/demand chain lies though.
As for valuations of most mining companies, I can't see them attaining past prices as the 'punting' money simply isn't there anymore.
It will be a hard lesson for most to come to terms with.
