I didn't discover Jack Benny till maybe 20 years ago, which is strange because I discovered Mort Sahl 60 years ago and Seinfeld qhen everybody else did.
But not so strange because I was fixated on UK comedy most of the time.
But once found I couldn't get enough of him in his old radio shows. He's a master at his craft (was, that is) every bit as much as anybody I've wver heard. His timing, pauses, quick changes and of course good writers can exhaust you with laughing.

Here the man himself tells us about his craft, which he transferred from vaudeville to radio in...wait for it....NINETEEN THIRTY TWO.

I have a lot of his programs on a hard drive. I must listen again.

Also as a musician **** Legendary entertainer Jack Benny was a pretty good violinist. In 1911 Benny was a 17-year old professional violinist playing in Chicago's vaudeville theaters. But Benny found more success with his comic timing than the violin. By 1921, his fiddle was more of a prop and comedy took over.
