Perhaps credit (or otherwise) needs to be given to where it is due.

Its often said that climate change arguments are like those against smoking and our legal system, not guilty until proven guilty. It's taken many years for many of the former sceptics to accept (or admit) that smoking causes you serious harm. Fortunately, the damage from smoking is relatively localised to the smoker and to a limited number of people around them. Fortunately also that we have seen a reduction in the number of smokers in our country.

Are carbon emissions the cause of global warming? Plenty of data is available that may point to a possible correlation but I doubt there is any definitive science that can be offered as proof despite some scientists 'religiously' claiming otherwise.

There are a lot of maybes involved but it might just be prudent to approach the global warming debate with a bit of caution and look after the resources and home we have. Unlike smoking, its not just the smoker (or an unfortunate few secondary smokers around) that suffers, its the whole community/population that MIGHT be at risk AND generations to come.

Figures touted about the efficiency of electricity generation from coal. Unfortunately in any system, when you multiply the efficiencies together for all parts of the system to provide the overall efficiency, the figure dont look quite so good as any one or few of them in isolation.

Not sure I follow your quoted percentage increases and where the data was sourced from otehr than from http://www.climatesceptics.com.au/documents/on-coal-fired-power-electricity-generation.pdf.

Checking out data from those that have measured it for years and maintained records tells a different story to that presented.

A summary of information re. CO2 levels is available in http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carbon_dioxide#In_the_Earth.27s_atmosphere

Bureau of Meteorology data tells a similar story.

Perhaps this article is an entertaining read that hopefully might challenge people to think rather than blindly follow.

What's this got to do with CFU? Plenty, CFU offers even greater energy conversion efficiency than a coal fired power station AND reduces massive percentages of energy loss through transmission.

Not sure if Trevor's article is meant as a downramp or whether I've totally missed the point. Someone help...
