Interesting read

Interesting article in The Age/Fairfax today about Alexa's voice recognition capacity and how Amazon have been building a globally dispersed team (currently numbering in the 000's) to annotate and refine the data their voice recognition devices acquire.

I wonder if someone more qualified to comment than myself would be able to give their 2c on whether they see this type of thing posing a threat to the services Appen provide? ie, the possibility that Amazon may develop their own in-house dispersed team of contract annotaters, or alternatively whether this presents as an opportunity for Appen to be acquired by Amazon or someone similar down the track?
