dani, think that a few years ago they had a sales guy there Martin Yi.. and perhaps thru him and maybe some other indonesian connections (they had 2 asian/middle east ppl on the board for a year or so), alot of hype came from sales targets out of that area. It was my opinion that Yii had secret ambitions to gain control of INT and move the ops to asia at some point.
anyways research and development is expensive business and martin was loaded apparently and bankrolled them in cashflow crisis's but never seem to kick a sales goal
sure it was very annoying in the past to see some anns talking about 100mill dollar contracts cos there were some mentioned large deals with indo companies that never seemed to materialise.
i made peace with my annoyances over the past with mgmt cos i began to see change. the Martin Yi guy parted from them over a year ago and the other 2 board guys left also. And it appears more true momentum has developed since.
If u have a good invention that u can just go whack in coles or woolies then fine. but meters aint like that.
It would appear tho that some ppl perhaps like Nairoo are still cut on those old matters fair enuff i guess if thats how they wanna be.
globes.. well unlike nairoos comments the globes are different to all others currently on the market, and bulk of sales aims as far as i know are to be with utility companies and govt bodies direct, and perhaps obtain some subsidy etc for a wide sales drive. sambo laid out most of product differences to GE phillips etc a few posts ago.
but also their is something unique about them as far as being compatible to the energy grid and the new digital technologies coming out.
couple that with govt being slow to move on new technologies then that to me is bulk of delay.
It was just last year vic govt said that 20% of all meters had to go in in 2008. it was changed 6mths ago to start in 2009.
Lots of players and parties its a big deal something like maybe a new drug invention where 15 bodies must scrutinise it for years b4 u can really up the ampage on sales. maybe the mgmt in early days expected a faster acceptance process.
Utility companies, diff facilities everywhere, govt deciding about grants and laws and wanting to ensure it gets a shortlist of products that will last 50 years or so i guess. Its like that wen u talk about public infrastructure in alot of cases.
And not making any excuses but id say mgmt has come along way in last 5 or 6 years. some errors in say marketing and certain personell choices may have been made in the past. What dont kill u make u stronger i say.
I guess if they hired 2 or 3 new board guys right now some of us mite complain too , saying look u dont have the cash. prove to us u have cashflow first etc. i personally think maybe some new blokes could have been hired 6mths back and i wouldnt have cared about the cost. but i guess thats a move that will come when they are ready.
We should all bear in mind these other facts:
1. what other company has scored large digital meter deals in the world yet using this internet similar comms device? none so far to my knowledge, could be wrong tho.
2. has GE and Philips etc done any massive behind the scenes deal yet to change all the light globes in a whole country? ecobulb did in NZ.. can anyone tell me of any other light bulb product anywhere in the world that had same success over a whole country? GE did a big play in vic yday 500,000 crap bulbs thru bunnings and the local paper, hardly like a national drive.
3. what other bulbs are getting full endorsement by the industry leaders that are in the know? singapore has just said that its only product to get green label.. aust ETU just came out and said same for here.
anyways hope that gives u more of the picture dani :)
