The letter is not racist as much as it is ignorant.
Unfortunately there are a lot of people in this country who also think the same way. In fairness maybe they are correct...racism is generally directed at the less fortunate and the minority group, lacking in education and struggling to fit in, claiming to be 'proud'.
There is no doubt a lot of 'whites' who fit this criteria and therefore feel racially vilified.
Fortunately it would appear that the majority have a compassionate understanding that racism is far deeper than simple name calling.
