Here we report the first use of a novel percutaneous synchronized ECMO system equipped with a diagonal pump with an electrocardiographically triggered pulsatile mode. The key result of the study is that the system is able to provide systemic circulatory support during cardiac arrest. The second observation from the experiments is that pulsatile blood flow markedly increases coronary artery perfusion compared with the nonpulsatile mode.
