As I've mentioned before, the Chinese may well already have a controlling stake spread amongst "non-associated" parties via nominee companies (MGX??).
All these parties will sell into the bid.
My guess is their goal is compulsory acquisition and a delisting.
Hence, no further access will be available other than via a privately negotiated HOA.
The Chinese can then develop the whole region as they wish.
BHP/RIO don't do itabirite, plus they are both winding down in West Africa. This also tells me the Chinese have their relationships at the government levels well entrenched.
Vale is a potential player and they did pick up the Simanduo portion that RIO lost.
