The problem is that trademarks don't protect from another company from copying the formulation of our nanoparticles at all. If the market for nanoparticles is as lucrative as it is made out to be in this thread, then I am certain another company will endeavour to make their own. I know for a fact there is a big red manufacturing nation to our north that loves stealing intellectual property who would likely love to cash in on such a market.
So while the possibility of alternative use with MRI is encouraging, the reason why I'm invested is the potential ability to image and detect cancer. I'm sure this is the angle that the company is focused on, seeing as they actually own the patent for this use.
