Seem like Covid is not much of an excuse according to the Government , in 2020 there was only a 4% reduction in Breast Cancer diagnosis. If you read the document it was March, April and early May that was affected then they started catching up.
It's expected 19866 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer and15% of these being Her2 , this means that 2980 women are eligible. The population of the three trial states accounting for 78% of eligible people , you would minus 22% for population and another 4% for covid, this leaves 2231 eligible women. On top of this you would have to account for people who do not use these 4 sites as they are not the only ones who deal with breast cancer so what percentage is this?. So with 1 patient enrolled in 24 May 2021 , 2nd site Austin added in the half year , 3rd site Royal Brisbane's Women's Hospital added end of half year and a fourth site in NSW imminent , leaving the eligible Women over the last 6 months to a small percentage. According to ANZCTRas of 7July 2021 we still only had 1 patient enrolled with a target of 30. There is minimal incentive for taking part in this trial as it won't help the women diagnosed , only women in the future. The only women I can think who have a incentive to go out of their way to take part is women with a family history.
So how did Bob not account for the small demographic and one trial site when designing the trial , I think it is because his background is Sales and Marketing not Trial design and deployment. I can only hope for a miracle firstly for the women diagnosed and second for this company and us investors.
