Anyone with a subscription to "The Atlantic" can read the very recent well written article about the US strategy of disallowing China access to improving their semiconductor manufacturing and the technology required to make the latest generation of chips. This US policy which was started a few years ago and has been rigorously persued with other nations such as Taiwan, Netherlands etc.
It basically keeps China at least 2 generations behind in chip technology and it's been that way for the last 20 years despite the CCP pumping hundreds of billions to leap forward.
Good policy and strictly enforced by the US and the West.
RE was handed over by the US and Europe 40 years ago mainly because that thought the Chinese were awfully good chaps and they'd do as their asked and cheaply and we'll all live happily ever after. The RE landscape is MADE IN CHINA and policy dreamt up now is an exercise in futility.
