    Great post. Yes burning any thing makes lots of CO2. The question is when was carbon stored. A friend of mine lives in Maine has about 50 acres. of land he heats his home and barn by harvesting dead wood. Now burning that dead wood creates far more CO2 than Oil NG or electric. but since the trees are still growing and dying it contributes nothing to atmospheric CO2.

    There is a medium Power plant in NH that uses Wood chips for fuel. They buy the chips from Tree Companies and towns from clean up. They partially dry chips with waste heat but the water is higher than desired. Now people are all worried about other gasses created by water content. Hard to know what is correct thing to do.
