There are a whole heap of technologies/ needs converging here which makes VMT such an interesting proposition:

(1) Requirement for lower carbon emissions
(2) Cheaper running costs from electricity vs fossil fuels
(3) Lighter weight construction techniques due to new steel/ Ally weld (improving efficiencies)
(4) Driver-less vehicles
(5) Proximity charging of batteries

Some of these are short term some are longer term opportunities but I can certainly imagine the opportunities available to VMT in the years ahead.
