Funny you should ask me about coal stocks as I have just bought into one of my favourites for my son (who is 24, I might add) - he just gives me money to invest for him.

I bought him some CEY (Centennial Coal) - a stock I have held for some time now. Pays a nice dividend & relies mainly on supplying coal locallly (NSW principally) so it is not so exposed to the rising Aussie $ as some of the other coal exporters are. That said, it would not surprise to see CEY move into the export market, given the right circumstances.

This one looks a nice growth stock as recent acquisitions appear to be bedded down quite nicely.

It's worth doing a bit of research on as I believe energy stocks are going to be big winners in 2004 and beyond.

From a charting perspective, since CEY's close above $2.62 the next wave of its uptrend should carry it well over the $3.00 mark, and if energty stocks become "flavour of the month" it could run much ... much higher in my humble opinion.
