    International shares have not performed as well as the Australian share market. The Australian share market has done well mainly due to the resources boom and the strong Aussie dollar.

    If you are looking to invest internationally use low cost index funds like the Barclays ishares. Their MER is lower than the mentioned funds.

    I look at this way. Many of the Australian companies e.g. BHP, Rio Tinto, WBC, ANZ, QBE, IAG, Brick works etc can be classified as international companies. They have a lot of operations overseas which makes them very diversified. Most of these companies are mostly owned by LICs. I would prefer to own these companies than international companies which I know little off.
