I am currently test driving Virginbroadband.
$60 per month unlimited free local and interstate calls.
2 gig download at over 512KB speed.

I have used my 2Gig and been throttled back to just above modem speed and it is slow, but I exceeded my limit deliberately just to check it out. If I stick with Virgin I will either pay an extra $10 per month for more gigs or not download movies.

I checked out whirlpool and most of the guys there have really bagged virgin. I agree with them that trying to get hold of a tech who knows anything will take hours. But on the other hand my connection has been remarkably good. I was with iprimus which is very good, but I signed up for the bundled $39 deal and have had my phone bills progessivel creep up and up. My first bill was just over $50 and now is regularly over $150. I have only given iprimus the shaft because of the increasing phone bills. Their isp service has been first class.

Try Virgin, read the forums, which will turn you off virgin, but if you can ignore the bad publicity and check it out for yourself, it seems to me the way of the future. I invested in one of those uniden digital phones and we now have 5 throughout the house and they all work well with virgin and my wife's laptop is also connected and works well just about anywhere in the yard. Our signal strength is consistently at about 80 bDm.

We have retained our mobile phone deal with optus because it is better than virgin's offer but you can bundle it all together if you want to.

If anybody has had problems with Virgin please tell me. I have abourt 6 days left on my free trial and have gone from love it to hate it to can work with it to hey its is just as reliable as iprimus for less than half price. As you can see money is a big motivator for me!!

    Good luck Craig.

PS when you set up your emails set them all up at once. The only problem I had was setting up my wife's email. They say it is easy to set up, but nowhere in the booklet does it tell you you need to get back to virgin to give the final "click". So if you want mutliple emails set them up when you sign up not later, it will save you some hassle.
