thats not quite right, any computer that is up to date, has virus and firewall protection is as safe as you can get it.
keystroke loggers will mostly, if not all be detected and cleaned
if you exclusively use web email like I do, you are even more protected
viruses transmitted by desktop email clients are also virtually unknown now, as long as you are using something new, up to date and popular
