Have looked at the freeware you mentioned madmacs.
Didn't find it any good also. Just a timer.
I seem to have done the damage by playing with Medved Quotetracker. Had it running as a play thing on the side.
Not a bad little program but if it's this thirsty i could have had several RT feeds for the cost of DSL over runs.
Have sent a Email to Medved to get some idea of MPH[meg per hour].
Looking into unlimited downloads options atm.
