I agree birdbeak.

But for some posters to suggest an increase in GST would work better is just plain 'dumb'. Sorry willcomp, but the government doesnt have such a perfect fiscal policy for me to agree to an increase in taxes. The fact that you even agree to it within the topic 'interest rates no solution' is flawed. When our RBA pumps out money for comsumption and borrowing and in turn pushes inflation higher- which is the real cause of rising prices here (but not only) - and then some suggest- oh lets just increase a 'tax'- na doesnt do it for me. My opinion and you have yours - enjoy.
