Iran is shiite muslim whereas Iraq was Sunni dominated.
Its a fine line, Iran (like most of the other muslim countries) has stated it wants to rid the ME of Israel. Religion dominates the country and attempts to introduce a secular government have been met with a hysterical response.
Its worth travelling to the ME, you step back in time and see medieval life faithfully preserved.
Israel represents the infidel, the west, in the holy land of 'true believers'. The muslim 'fundamentalists' want to eradicate the west and live the holy life of a medieval agricultural peasant, and the 'moderate' muslims appear to be unable to oppose these 'fundamentalists'.
