We vote on multiple aspects that governs the organisation; we appoint directors, auditors, approve directors' remuneration (case in point), vote on significant transactions, etc. If you look at Shareholders as anything other than owners you look at it very wrong, a basic google search of the definition of a shareholder will assist your views very much.
