Being part of Discovery would be good, but ultimately Sky still need to become a full blown telco to succeed in the long run. An eventual play with Vocus and/or 2Degrees is still required regardless.

Right now, a merger could make sense to shareholders (depending on relative values established).

But a takeover of Sky (by Discovery or anyone else) is the last thing shareholders should want. We would be lucky to get 30c and then do not get to participate in future upside (whereas we would have the option to participate in upside with a merger deal).

Why sell Sky for 30c/share now when...

They will probably do a $50M buyback soon using proceeds from property sale + FCF. They can buyback ~15% of the shares outstanding with that.

Then start paying a divvy next year - $60M divided by remaining ~1.5B shares will be 4c/share.

A 10% yield would push the SP to 40c.

Light at the end of the tunnel. Our worst case is buyback/divvy. Best case is merger imo (if done on terms that are fair).

A lot to feel very happy about right now as a SKT shareholder.
