Valad Property Group (aka Invalid) yesterday told the market it had written down the value of its property portfolio by another $104.8 million, or 20 per cent.

Shareholders in the company, also known as Vlad the Impaled, will probably be curious to see whether it has any more upbeat commentary at its half-year results tomorrow.

It is only a week since Invalid's managing director, Peter Hurley, said: ''Our balance sheet has strengthened and we continue to devote our energies to growing the business.'' Hurley only needs to hang on another four months in his role to score a $1.88 million retention bonus.
