Nobody seems to be concerend about the pirating of the Swedish car carrier, or the ramifications in its home office.

With a bill for hundreds of thousands for the turn-around, and the threats made, do we think that other merchant vessels will blithely carry on as though nothing has happened? I don't think so. They will give the area a very wide berth.

If Australian government does nothing about this, we will be seen to be cavalier about the safety of commercial shipping. Silence in Canberra does not mean silence in Sweden and Europe about this.
