The exploitation permit is based on seven yearsold consultation material that does not contain the most recently updated report on the assessment ofthe mining project's impact on the environment (EIA). The material also does not include the plans for a chemicalseparation plant with a daily consumption of up to 2000 tons of sulfuric acid, which the authorities want, will bepart of the project.Recently, applications for mining licenses in Greenland have increased significantly. In 2019, there were approx. 70 largerexploration and exploitation permits that together amount to many thousands of square kilometers.Half of it can be found in the southernmost part of Greenlandke dt so "G ø la ds b ødku v",because it includesalmost all of Greenland's agricultural land. Two major mining projects stand out here: The controversialuranium/rare earth mining project in Kuannersuit/Kvanefjeld, which contains the world's second largestreserves of uranium and by far the largest amount of thorium. And the rare earth mining project at KillavaatAlannguat / Kringlerne, which is claimed by the owner, the Australian company Tanbreez Mining Greenland A/S, tohave the largest stock of rare earths in the world [2].
