Thank you Zogeel for providing qualified information that many of us do not have either the ability or means to access. Very much appreciated.
In my opinion, this is a very positive sign, and hopefully the start of the pathway forward for both shareholders and those citizens in Greenland who wish to have some economic security for themselves and their children to be able to remain in their homeland, and not driven out by poverty.
The Committee is not SIMPLY carrying just out its duty - The committee has been REQUESTED to give an opinion/report as to whether or not Inatsisartut had all the relevant information available BEFORE making a very crucial economic decision. A decision, of which a world standard law firm was prepared to become involved in, and obviously considers has sufficient evidence to support, or they would not have become involved.
The REQUEST has IMO, only been made now, because most probably most of the politicians in Greenland are being asked by a growing number of reasonably concerned Greenland electors, how such a large amount of compensation can now be LEGALLY claimed, after the Greenland Parliament voted to change the law retrospectively, knowing the damage it would cause, to a company that had been in the country for 13 years, actively preparing to mine the Kvanefjeld project?
Clearly, a sufficient number of the voting public believed the misinformation about the Kvanefjeld project before the election, to see a change of government, and believed the assurances that the law could be change without and potential financial consequences?
Now the financial consequences are not POTENTIAL - the claim is very real and very substantial, and back by a world class legal firm.
So NOW, with the claim having been made and quantified, undoubtedly there would be both Greenland and Danish politicians, and their constants wanting to know who knew what and when, particularly concerning the issue of compensation? It appears to me that the "blame game" has started?
Considering the size of the claim as now quantified (or any parts thereof) and if successful, it is now realised, that this matter has a possibility to cause considerable financial difficulty to the citizens of both Greenland and Denmark, and in that light, is a very fair and reasonable request to the Audit committee.
IMO, if there was no doubt about the passage or the legitimacy of the legislation, or any possibility of the success of the now quantified claim, the audit committee would have SIMPLY dismissed the request.
I hope for all shareholders in this obviously important project, particularly any people who may be shareholder living in Greenland, that we are all rewarded for our patience, and that sooner rather than later, this project will be recognised by all governments for the security it offers so many in the world.
DYOR - stay positive and healthy, this project will happen - the question is when?
