AMG is different in that they have their own mines. As far as I can make out, their mine in MOZ has never been restarted. I do know that when that mine operated prior to 1999, they had to do the processing in Pemba and not at the mine site. I'm not even sure that AMG has refurbished or upgraded the plant of that old mine?
Anyway, I think identifying all of these players that participate in the graphite market one way or the other confirms that nobody really knows how big the current market is really. Leave alone how big it is going to get over the next 5 years. Trugroup opening up a large graphite and graphene consultancy firm might be instructive about the near future growth though.
High purity graphite concentrate and simple upgrade processing is the name of the game for the miners. The cherry on top for easy picking is the significant size of the synthetic graphite market. That market is both economically and environmentally vulnerable for losing significant market share to the emerging production of high volume and good quality natural graphite outside of China and probably India as well.
