Here is my bit for your consideration, and is not financial advice......

Depending on your age, your choice of investment vehicle is very important. As some have said a good Industry Super fund could be right for you, and/or a nice parcel of shares. Again, depending on age - you could be looking for growth shares, or dividend paying shares.

I recently helped my father in law setup a portfolio of $200K - he was looking for fully franked income. Among the shares we selected for him were WAM, DDR, RIO, IFL, WAX. For him it was also important to spread income across the year. DDR is the most fascinating for him as he had never heard of it and it pays quartlerly.

I have been investing in the sharemarket since I was 11 and am now 50 (I have 52 shares in my portfolio ranging from long term holds to speculative shares). Diversification if your key, so make sure you have exposure across a broad range of activities. If you already have super, make sure you know where your investment choice tere is invested - no point owning $50K of CBA in your own portfolio and having your superfund invested there too....

Do your own research, slowly invest your money (not all at once) - maybe over 6-8 months and read, read lots about investments, companies, future directions and global trends.

    Good luck!
