On a more positive note, the website and email both mention:
"While waiting for a response from the company over a number of days the Investor Group leadership received advice that the company or someone purporting to represent the company had subverted the agent of the funder and was attempting to deal direct with the fund. The investor group was then advised to formally withdraw the offer of finance which it did via the statement attached to this email."

So perhaps not all is lost. Maybe GGP will secure GEM funding directly?
