How has he lost when he hasn't sold. My understanding is that he is way in front still because he still holds above what he paid for. Perhaps your one of those experts who buys for 5c and sells for 6c and thinks wow Iv'e made 20% only to miss when it goes to 200%. But hey who cares you still made 20%.
Long term hold for long term gains, you can keep your 20%.
