Although STO is not a stock followed by many on HC since it is more of a long term play and doesn't quite fit the speculative trade that many prefer. However it seems to me that this stock has been 'derisked' by much of the capex being spent on major projects already spent 'on time and on budget'.
There are 2 times to buy mining stocks imho - the first when they are making discoveries and firming up reserves, the second when most of the expenditure for start up has been spent and if on budget then the cash should start flowing in. For lng stocks the time to buy was a few years ago when they were all firming up their reserves but now it seems is a good time to jump back in for a longer play.
Santos seems ideally placed to capitalise on rising gas prices with long term contracts. I would expect growth of at least 20% per annum for the forseeable future. As such it makes a very attractive buy within a market which for the most part is fully priced.
