Not really, for instance.
If i was in the CEO's shoes.. If the IO price hits $50.. All you have to do is buy a futures agreement, or lock in a forward, or better yet take out a put option for IO. And you can easily continue production while locking in that higher price. Hence as you can see, the amount of time the IO price remains at $48-50 makes no difference.
I've seen a few small cap miners and energy firms do this, it saved their bacon a lot. Perfect example is SXY.
