ION is also looking at refining MHP to extract battery minerals. How? I don't know. I'm not going to pretend to know what I'm talking about because I'm not a chemical engineer, so I'm completely clueless about the entire process. ION is currently sourcing MHP from US sources & is using the DES process (same tech as battery recycling) to extract battery minerals, which I'm assuming are nickel & cobalt.
I think MHP is used during the nickel ore refining process, based on the information I've come across. If there's a chemical engineer out there who can correct me or explain in detail the MHP nickel refining process, please do so.
