hey slick, you are describing a partial gap, when the opening price is higher or lower than the previous days close but within the previous days trading range. These are not given much thought in TA, a full gap is what everyone on HC talks about and Russ is right, if it opened tomorrow at the top of today candlestick most traders would not consider nor see a gap on the chart
