Amatuers in the fact that they are losing several hundred millions of dollars year on year and has never made a profit in its entire existence. If a business cant make a commercial return but only relies on capital and debt funding to survive, at what point does it end?
Afterpay is basically the Fintech version of Uber. And if you look into closely, almost all the asian versions of uber like Didi, Ola and Grab are profitable or close to it whereas the western business mindset that runs Uber and afterpay loses money. Therein is the amatuer side we refer to
