I'm a muslim that grew up in Egypt I can say the fact you just claim debt is haram means you know nothing.

It's a heavily debated matter because "reba" is haram and mention in the Quran. But Reba is not debt or a loan. Generally reba is an action of helping someone out (mostly family and friends) but make them pay you back more and manipulate them for your own desires rather than actually helping out.

When it comes to banks and businesses these are business transactions and a complete different story. If loans were haram as you claim then working, trading and having any sort of cash inflow would be haram while it's not.
