Trump's win may spell doom for the remaining contenders trying to becomethe GOP presidential nominee.

According to the WallStreet Journal's Catherine Lucky, with suchan uncontested victory it might be time for former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis to gracefully head for the exits.

She writes: "It wasn’t even close, and the win signaled this couldbe a very short GOP primary season if Trump continues to pile up delegates andany rivals' road to victory vanishes."

As of two hours after the start of the caucuses, Trump had earned 49.5%of the Iowa caucus votes, with 6% of the votes counted.

DeSantis, with 22.4%, and Haley with 20.6% were duking it out for secondplace.

The candidates will head east to earn votes from the New Hampshireprimary next, where CNNreportsTrump is expected to face more aggressive competition.
