IP costs (are they huge/unreasonable?), page-5

I was kinda hoping someone (a shareholder) would immediately know the answer off the top of their head, but I guess I might have to do some searching myself.

It looks like LBT might have sold/transferred their MicroStreak patents (originally filed back in 2008) to "Autobio Diagnostics Co., Ltd" (this is just from the Australian patent register, I can't be bothered looking into all of them right now, the AU patent numbers are 2008204726, 2008204727, 2008204728 and 2008204729).

LBT then seems to own (and have originally filed) another bunch of patents in 2012 (I assume for APAS), their AU patent numbers are 2012225193, 2012225194, 2012225195 and 2012225196.

I went back to some other 4C document and it looks like these patent costs have been high for a long time:
Year ending 30 June 2019 they spent $2.4m on patents (APAS);
Year ending 30 June 2018 they spent $2.4m on patents (APAS);
Year ending 30 June 2017 they spent $4.6m on patents (APAS);
Year ending 30 June 2016 they spent $3.9m on patents (APAS).

For the year ending 30 June 2015 they didn'thave any patent costs, but the did have a bunch of royalty type "other payments".



Maybe there is money moving around in a complicated way between LBT and CCS? It is also interesting that LBT is only the distributor for AU and NZ (as per the LBT website: CCS has appointed LBT as the exclusive distributor for Australia and NZ – the first sales geography globally, to allow LBT to gain valuable early market insight. CCS will look to appoint distributors in other key geographies over the course of 2019 calendar year.).

Anyway, I need to do some work! If anyone else has some insights I'd love to hear about them (as I was considing jumping onto this one until I saw the IP costs!).
