The Earth's output  as seen from space is 240W m2.  It is not the the surface output obviously.

It is also not a substitue for the Earths surface input.  Climate Models work backwards via the Conservation Of Energy theory.

Energy cannot be created or destroyed.  Thus they assume the known output of 240W m2 is also the Input.

Problem is that weather is driven by the diurnal forcings of our Sun.  Ie a rotating Earth where one hemisphere is ONLY ever exposed to the sun.

Our output that is being measured is from above 5 kilometers in the sky.  Once you start getting that high the temperatures are not responsive to diurnal activity.  Connolly and Connolly 2017 (check year).

So the temperatures in the upper troposphere are a great representation of Earths average temperature.  But they are not what drives the meteorological processes.

Can you tell me if it is ghg's that drive meterological processses?  Is it back radiation that causes evapouration?

We know that is crap because we know that the SUN can using a real world spherical model and allowing angle of incidence that the SUN has more than enough power to drive the tropospheric weather system, where it establishes temperature differentials to drive convective systems and evaporates large quantities of water to provide for interesting instabilities within these convective systems.
