You'll probably get it back via cheque in a couple of weeks, then have to take time off work to go cash the damn thing.
As to who you know vs what you know, that's life generally, and more specifically on the small end of the ASX, unfortunately.
But there will be more floats, and sometimes they can't get enough sophs even for good floats (especially for spread). Try not to get too discouraged - or impatient.
(From someone who was going for spread and probably didn't get any and could really do with an instant refund of the cash right now.)
