Nuh doesn’t work that way. There is a book build process - it’s more of a dark art than a science. But as an example, if it was first come, first serve and the first 10 investors bid for the entire amount there would be very limited liquidity and distribution of shareholders = likely to restrict SP growth as prospective investors are unable to get sufficient stock on market to be interested. And not all shareholders are created equal - some have bigger pockets, are influential etc and therefore get looked after by brokers in terms of allocations.
It’s all a bit murky.
