Winston is right he is obviously speaking like a politician., Diversification is the preferred option, however sometimes it is the obvious advantage in life we should take advantage of. New Zealand's advantage is its clean air, environment and dairy products. Before we venture into other fields, we should first maximise the advantages. China is New Zealand main market because it has the middle class that could afford New Zealand's products. We can diversify first to other parts of Asia on a smaller scale and then increasing market share to reduce risk. If we venture into industries with no natural advantage, we would probably lose in the long run. Distance tyranny, high labour cost, transportation cost etc. Important to maximise our advantage before going into untested waters. Yes we should add value to our products, concentrate on our advantage in pharmaceutical and at the same time improve on New Zealand 's natural advantages and made the best of it.
